Since 1986, I have been learning every aspect of the hospitality industry. I am still an active Director of Sales. I began my journey in hotels by accepting my very first position as a shoe shine girl for a full-service Holiday Inn in Amarillo, Texas. I never dreamed that I would still be in hotels 35 years later. I have worked with Hyatt at a CRO, held various positions at IHG, as well as, I have opened a brand new RIBM and been in sales with Marriott. I have also been an independent rep with Conference Direct for six years, until I was wrangled back to the hotel side again as the DOS at my current position.
I traveled up the chain of command holding every position to finally becoming a General Manager of a 300+ full service hotel, but my true strength was found in sales. I decided at one point to leave operation side and wanting to learn the sales side. I had to take a decrease in pay to make that come true. My Director of Sales took me out to train me on outside calls. I will never forget that day because it was the day of the Oklahoma bombing and we were actually in a federal building making a sales call, when we learned about the bombing. My Director of Sales told me outside calls (even cold calls) should be fun and I learned from her that it is possible to get past your fear of making calls and selling for hotels. It can be fun and rewarding.
I want to help others learn how to begin and grow in hotel sales so they can grow not only in their career but in their bottom lines! Everyone knows how tough 2020 has been and how tough it has been on our industry. I want to share my experience to help others keep their doors open and more than that, to help them thrive! This is a new venture for me and I will not be a pro right away but I promise to be fully me, honest and transparent. If you have a question, I cannot answer, I will do my very best to find an answer. I love sales and want You to Love it as well.
I will share marketing strategies that includes digital marketing on Facebook and Instagram, as well as, other platforms, basic hotel sales, and lead generation. I will make sure that I do everything I can do to help each student find a path to success. Let's begin with the basics and then take steps to ensure you will be your own sales force, knowing how to succeed in every market segment. Next is marketing plans, B2B sales and much more! The result will be increased revenue! So, if you have a sales person who could use training and support or you don't have a sales person at all, my goal is to give you vital information that you can use everyday to change your bottom line for the positive!
Classes will be virtual and recorded for replay for those who are busy so you don't have to miss any teaching session. Classes will be sure to have key hospitality training to ensure you are the sales force with marketing strategies to bring you bookings and revenue in this much needed time of struggle we are all facing.
Your success is my priority. My goal is to provide a personal approach, tailoring learning methods to each student's needs. I began to hear about people who had to stay at home during the start of this pandemic and these people decided to use the time to learn new skill sets and I wanted to do the same thing even though I never got to stay at home. Now I want to help you change your life by learning new things and ways to find business and market your hotel or lodge or b&b. Let us all sharpen our minds to learn!
